It mixes a few different services into (what I think) is the ultimate Instagram library solution. Here&#8217;s what you need to get it going;</p> <ol><li>A Macintosh computer</li> <li>A <a href="https://www.dropbox.com/">Dropbox</a> account</li> <li>An <a href="http://ifttt.com/">ifttt.com</a> account</li> <li>The <a href="http://www.noodlesoft.com/hazel.php">Hazel</a> utility</li> <li>A visit to the <a href="http://instaport.me/">Instaport</a> website</li> </ol><h2>Step 0 – Before we start</h2> <p>Let&#8217;s assume;</p> <ol><li>You have an Instagram account and you&#8217;ve been taking photos</li> <li>You have <a href="https://www.dropbox.com/">Dropbox</a> set up and running on your Mac</li> <li>You&#8217;ve installed and understand how to use the <a href="http://www.noodlesoft.com/hazel.php">Hazel</a> utility</li> </ol><h2>Step 1 – Get future Instagram photos automatically downloading to your Mac</h2> <p>Visit <a href="http://ifttt.com/">ifttt.com</a> and sign up for an account. Then create a task to save your new Instagram photos to a directory within your Dropbox. We&#8217;ll call this folder your <strong>Local Instagram Library</strong>. You can use <a href="http://ifttt.com/recipes/56">this ifttt recipe</a> if you don&#8217;t want to construct one yourself.</p> <p>Now when you take an Instagram photo on your iPhone (or <em>other</em> device), it will be automatically downloaded to your <strong>Local Instagram Library</strong> in your Dropbox.</p> <h2>Step 2 – Retrieve all the Instagram photos you&#8217;ve taken previous to Step 1</h2> <p>Visit the <a href="http://instaport.me/">Instaport</a> website and give it permission to access your Instagram account. Download a .zip file of all your Instagram photos.</p> <h2>Step 3 – Put all your old photos in the Local Instagram Library</h2> <p>Unstuff the .zip file and put all the photos into the <strong>Local Instagram Library</strong> (the Dropbox directory where you have <a href="http://ifttt.com/">ifttt.com</a> downloading your new Instagram photos to).</p> <h2>Step 4 – Make sure all future photos get the same naming style as the Instaport ones</h2> <p>The <a href="http://ifttt.com/">ifttt.com</a> task that downloads your instagram photos gives them a long, confusing name that doesn&#8217;t sort well alphabetically – we need to automatically rename these newly added photos so they will sort nicely.</p> <p>Set up a <a href="http://www.noodlesoft.com/hazel.php">Hazel</a> rule to watch your <strong>Local Instagram Library</strong>.
